Longer-ish explanation:
Tiki is a living creature, not actually a doll. His mouth can open and close, he bleeds, feels, thinks, etc.
His 'belt' is actually a growth that extends around his body and allows Tiki to photosynthesize.
Tiki does not actually have a bunch of organs: just a heart and lungs. The rest is a bunch of nerves, blood vessels, muscles, etc. He doesn't need to eat/egest. His 'belt' takes care of everything.

Tiki is, like Bailey, lonely by nature. He's devoted to his master and never leaves his side, since Bailey visualized Tiki as a protector(when he first met Tiki, it was when Bailey wished for a 'soldier' to fight off his nightmares). As such, Tiki's attitude is similar to that of a guardian and nothing more. His only goal is to protect Bailey: being friends, or things like that, are unimportant to him. As such, he's rather serious and, even if he could, wouldn't say much. He would never hurt Bailey, but then seems to care for nothing except his safety... as if not really for Bailey himself.
In times of great sorrow, however, Bailey relies on Tiki for emotional support. Tiki becomes sort of a 'favourite toy' to hug when Bailey feels down. Tiki does not respond, but ultimately accepts Bailey's affection, seeing it as another way of protecting Bailey's (emotional) safety. ((I.E. if Bailey were to start cutting his wrists... or something like that.))
